The Hatch

I implemented my new hatch removal scheme. The piece to the left will fit on the sliding part of the hatch. Notice the notch cut out of the corner. The piece on the right will be screwed on as part of the slide rail once the hatch is put in place.

Here I place the hatch on top of the boat once again as the epoxy cures to make sure it will lay flat. I used aluminum foil as necessary to prevent the hatch from becoming stuck to the boat.

The hatch is basically finished. Now it awaits a general sanding and varnishing with the rest of the brightwork.

I decided how I will make the hatch boards. I started with some interior framing to look consistent with the rest of the interior.

A front view of the hatch. I can't get a better shot until I put the boat on the trailer.
